Our Journey

K and T began trying to conceive at the end of July 2012.  Despite T's crazy cycle we were able to conceive during our second month of trying.  On September 19, 2012 T had her first positive pregnancy test.  She was out of town, so she called K to share the news. If she had to do it again she would've waited until K got out of work and maybe even waited a week until she got home!

Their first doctor's appointment was on Tuesday October 4th.  T thought that she was 10 weeks along when she went for her appointment.  BUT...K and T were surprised to learn that T was only 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  The Dr. explained that T must have ovulated very late.  T & K were a bit disappointed as they were hoping to almost be in the clear.  However, they were really excited to see Babysaurus on the ultrasound and hear the heartbeat.  The first heartbeat measured at 97 bpm.

We waited until T came home before sharing the news with family and close friends.  We were able to skype with our family and show them the cute outfit that we bought.  On the bib was a bear cub and the words 'little bear.'  Seeing that we call each other "bear" and the fact that we were holding a baby outfit, our parents got the message.

So far we are getting used to the idea of adding a new member to our family.  We are both very excited.  We've already chosen boy and girl names, although the boy names keep changing.  T is grateful for all of K's help around the house.  She has been very very tired and very very nauseous.  Morning sickness would be a blessing, T has all day every day sickness.  The good news is that she isn't throwing up...just a feeling of queasiness that persists each day.

On Tuesday October 18th T & K went in for another appointment.  We could see that the baby had grown significantly (it is actually still an embryo...becomes a fetus at 10 weeks).  It was 7w5d and the baby measured at 8 weeks with a strong heartbeat of 169 bpm.  Our next appointment is on Thursday November 17th and we will be getting another ultrasound.  We'll keep you posted...and will definitely be adding the picture from our next ultrasound.

Until then, keep us and babysaurus in your prayers.  T is doing some traveling, which will help get her through the next 4 weeks of waiting.
